If you’re wondering how to edit the announcement bar in Squarespace 7.1, this post is for you! And you probably already knew that from the post title, but hey, Yoast SEO says 🙃.

This tutorial is for Squarespace 7.1. If you started your site some time after January 2020, you likely have a Squarespace 7.1 site.

Written Steps for How to Edit the Announcement Bar in Squarespace 7.1

First, what is the announcement bar?

The announcement bar is located above the menu of your website and, as the name suggests, displays an announcement. This is a big CTA action and should be used to call attention to urgent items (new offers, etc).

Second, how to turn the announcement bar on:

  1. From your main lefthand menu, select Marketing
  2. Here you will see the option for your Announcement Bar:

3. On the Announcement Bar tab, you will select “Enable Announcement Bar” in the dropdown.

4. This will give you the option to add your announcement message and a clickthrough link.

Third, how to edit the announcement bar in Squarespace 7.1 if it doesn’t look the way you want it to:

This is the part that may be easiest for you to watch in the video since the settings for the announcement bar are in a few different places.

You will access everything under the Design -> Site Styles section.

To change the font: You will go to Site Styles -> Fonts -> Assign Styles. This is where you will see the Announcement Bar.

To change the color: Go to Site Styles -> Colors. Hover over the announcement bar to see what color palette the announcement bar is using. Once you know, select that color palette and scroll down until you see the Announcement Bar listed.
